Up to 1997 and until 2000- big things happened between these years personally for me. I started my career as a professional singer and my writing style started to change and grow immensely. In this period I had various part time jobs including being a children's crossing guard which entailed a lot of waiting around for people to cross so in the downtime I used to write songs in my head and record the words and intervals of the melodic line on a writing pad. I wrote heaps of songs in this period in a myriad of different styles including jazz, dance, rock, folk and much in between. The song I have chosen to describe this period best is 4 Seasons. It was a methodically written, metaphoric song with a strange structure. Quite advanced for my age I would say. I thought I was writing a story about someone who had lost there lover a year ago but that person wanted back into their life. Upon re-visiting the song I have realised it was a metaphor about my then fiancee and how I had felt that that last year our love for each other had died but I kept unconsciously trying to get him back into my heart.
